Warmer Weather

When God gives you 60-65 in the middle of February, you take full advantage and you get outside. And preferably with buddies & puppies.

Basketball, baseball, skipping, playing fetch & the heading to the movies. Kendall's first!

80s Birthday Bash

What does one get with an 80s style themed birthday party plus a murder mystery? A LOT OF FREAKING FUN.

The girls and I were looking for an excuse to do a murder mystery for so long & I try and do something every year to celebrate my birthday---I mean it's the one day that is all about me. So we decided to combine the two & let's just say it was a blast. Jennifer and Tiffany did such a great job with the food---of course it was all 80s themed.

I won't lie, there was a lot of work that went into it and a lot of people had to SAY YES but it was all so worth it. The theme was a release party for Debbie Gribson given by her BFF Polly Abdul. We had Mork from Pork, Alligator Dundee, Tiffany, Spunky Brewster, Daniel Son and so many more...

I won't spoil the fun & tell you who won but it wasn't who I expected!

So thankful for all these beautiful people in my life & for humoring me & going all out for the evening.

Globetrotters

This was an evening that the boys had been looking forward to since the last time they had seen the Globetrotters---& this time it would be with some classmates & a buddy, Nathan. Who bought the boys VIP passes to meet all the Globetrotters before the show. They were amazed by the size of all the players and their tricks.

& then came the game---they LOVED every minute of it and I loved watching them squirm in their seats & just giggle with laughter.

& well done to the Globetrotters, they sold arm sleeves that benefited a mental health foundation for youth and we all know how much I love causes like this, so of course we had to get two---even if they never wore them.

& before we left, we found a few more buddies. Not sure which kid was happier!

Kansas City Chiefs 2020 Ticker Tape WATCH PARTY

Just like when the Royals won the World Series in 2015, school was canceled when the Chiefs won the Super Bowl. I had the best of intentions to take the boys down to the parade but not only was it as COLD as ever BUT I was also without any help & was so worried that it would be beyond crowded & I just didn't want to risk it. So we stayed home and did the next best thing---attended a little gathering with friends to celebrate.

The kids ran wild & celebrated as the moms relaxed and watched the parade. This was something we had all waited for a very long time to happen & the only thing that would have made it better was being there in person. I had total FOMO & regret of missing out.

SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONS LIV

Fifty years in the making. We've been waiting for this day since we were little. The anticipation was nothing like our city has felt before---and you could feel it everywhere you went. I mean, everyone was wearing their Chiefs gear---Gus included---& if you had your Red and Gold on, you were bound to get only smiles, waves and head nods thrown your way. For once, no matter what political party you are part of or who you are, everyone was on the same side--The CHIEFS side.

We started off our morning at church---in our Chiefs gear of course, it was welcomed.

& then home we went to get ready for the big game. We were invited to a number of Super Bowl Parties, we thought about having our own but in the end Justin just wanted it to be us. He wanted to pause the TV if needed, rewind it if needed, turn it up if needed & most importantly, he wanted a good seat & no one in his way. I mostly agreed so we set our menu & we waited.

I did some chalk art while we waited.

& then the game started. And we all got anxious. It was a surreal feeling. We were actually watching our Chiefs run out until the field for Super Bowl 54---like WHAT!?!?

There were lots of emotions, rollercoaster of emotions and at one time both Logan and Justin were looking like they were going to put themselves to bed. I just kept saying, "it's not over, we've seen this comeback before, we know they can do it!" & then the play that changed everything happened. WASP.

& the Chiefs never looked back--31-20, 21 unanswered points the Chiefs became Super Bowl 54 Champions. What a ride.

Fireworks & the sounds of pots and pans & honking of horns could be heard all around KC.

It took Justin and I 37 years in order to see both the Royals win it all in 2015 & the Chiefs become champs in 2020. Our boys, they not only got to see it by the time they were 8 and 10 respectively, but they will forever remember it happening too.
