Piece of Cake.

We got home late last Saturday from vacation and the last thing I wanted to do was make a cake but Kaden was turning 5 the next day and a cake is what he wanted. I tried to get him to go for rice crispy treats, nope. I tried to get him to do cupcakes. Nope. He wanted a cake & I couldn't just make a simple pan cake because that wouldn't be special now would it. So I searched "easy birthday cake" on Pinterest and pulled up something that looked pretty simple. I figured with a little effort I could come close to it or at least I was hoping I could.

So I ran into the store, I usually don't run and it is never into the store but we were short on time. I got a cake mix, some icing and some sprinkles. As soon as I got home I started baking. Now I may not know how to cook but I can sure make a mean cake. The boys helped with the mixing and getting them into the oven and Logan so kindly shut the oven off a little too early so from there it was a guessing game on how long and at what temperature. I think we came out okay…

Getting the cake out of the pan was seriously the hardest part of this whole project. After getting them stacked and on the cake plate all it took was a little icing…

a little parchment paper for the #5...

& lots and lots of sprinkles…

& then with a little bit of patience you just pull back the parchment paper. You'll probably have to do some smoothing out of the icing once you have pulled it up but nothing major. Clean up the plate a little and add some icing around the bottom and you got yourself a simple cake. & in the end, the only person that really matter when it comes to what they think about the cake, is the birthday boy himself. He thought it was pretty amazing and gave me rave reviews.
