Done and Done

Today we were able to check a couple items off of our Fall 2011 Bucket List-pumpkin painting and a photo shoot with leaves (well an impromptu one but it still counts, right?).

Going into the weekend, I had very high hopes for what today would bring but after a late night celebrating Jake's 30th last night, we got off to a rough start. Not only was I up at 3 with Logan but Kaden was ready to start his day at 6 and I was reminded, yet again, why I left my partying days behind.  Instead of getting outside first thing in the morning, we watched Alvin and the Chipmunks.  Instead of having lunch at a park, we had a picnic in our living room and this mommy was serving Wendy's. Not exactly how I was hoping to start the day out but we still had the afternoon and I was determined to have some fall fun. Once Kaden was down for his nap, I ran to Target and Hobby Lobby picking up a few items for our afternoon fun and as soon as Kaden was up, we headed to Price Chopper to get something for dinner and pick up a few pumpkins. Unlike last weekend when Kaden carefully looked over each pumpkin, this time he sat back and made me do all the work. Once at home we cleaned up the back deck (the location site of our mini photo shoot) and then got our pumpkin painting station set up. Kaden had his paint, paintbrush, some markers and some glitter pens-he was set. I had my camera-I was set. He spent the next 20 minutes channeling Picasso, creating his masterpiece.

I admit, I hate that I had a little too much fun last night and my kiddos had to settle for Plan B today but we still managed to have a good time, even if it was in our own backyard and this Mommy wasn't feeling 100%.
